Gallagher James

James Gallagher is a California native and graduate of the University of California, Berkeley where he holds a degree in German and Linguistics.

He lived and worked in Germany in the publishing industry for the first 9 years of his career before returning to the Bay Area to work in Silicon Valley to work in international marketing. It was his work as head of international marketing for EMEA at McGraw-Hill’s technical division that convinced him to split his time between Paris and San Francisco in order to work on his Masters in Business at HEC Paris.

Since his MBA, he has co-founded three businesses, one of which sold to investors and the two others still going strong. James is also a strong advocate for education at all levels.

He currently teaches in higher education with Paris based ISM and California based FIDM, where he leads courses in Design Thinking, Entrepreneurship, and Marketing.

His future goals are to continue teaching and advising startups – and in 2021 – to use his new wine import business to connect lesser-known wine growing regions of the world to the markets in the US and Europe.

James, a native English speaker, also speaks German at a native level, as well as Spanish, French, and Swedish at advanced levels.

Planned course: Idea Generation and Creative Thinking.
